Job summary

CDC Data Centres is hiring in Hobsonville, Auckland, NZ for a Connectivity Engineer within the Networks Operations team. The role focuses on the installation and maintenance of network and optical equipment and day-to-day fibre patching to ensure high-quality service delivery.

Supervising internal and external stakeholders, you will ensure reliable connectivity across facilities. Applicants should have 2–3 years in a data centre environment or with a commercial carrier, hands-on fibre cabling

• Maintain and monitor fibre optic and network equipment, responding to alarms and alerts.
• Provide expert connectivity advice and support to internal and external stakeholders, including fault finding assistance.
• Perform preventative maintenance and act as a Subject Matter Expert across data centre operations.
• Manage and update network topology, asset records, and configuration data for all networking equipment.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, vendors, and service providers.
• Work independently and collaboratively across regions, occasionally outside normal business hours.

About the role:

Joining our Networks Operations team, this role is responsible for the installation and maintenance of network and optical equipment, while managing day‑to‑day fibre patching to ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery.

You’ll support carrier partners in establishing and maintaining their presence within our facilities, contributing to reliable connectivity and strong stakeholder relationships.

Other responsibilities include:

• Maintain and monitor fibre optic and network equipment, responding to alarms and alerts using monitoring tools.
• Provide expert connectivity advice and support to internal and external stakeholders, including fault finding assistance.
• Perform preventative maintenance and act as a Subject Matter Expert across data centre operations.
• Manage and update network topology, asset records, and configuration data for all networking equipment.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, vendors, and service providers.
• Work independently and collaboratively across regions, occasionally outside normal business hours.
• Represent the company professionally in meetings, committees, and stakeholder engagements.

About you:

You’ll bring at least 2–3 years’ experience working within a Data Centre environment or with a commercial carrier, along with hands‑on fibre cabling experience. You have a strong understanding of networking and communications infrastructure and are confident configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting a range of technologies.

You’re highly organised, with strong documentation and compliance skills, and understand the importance of following processes in a critical environment. Experience working within ITIL frameworks is highly regarded, and industry‑recognised networking or cabling certifications will be viewed favourably.

Most importantly, you’re a proactive problem solver who enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment, takes pride in delivering high‑quality work, and is committed to maintaining reliable and resilient infrastructure.

New Zealand Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a NZ Security Clearance.
