Compliance Officer - Environmental Health

Are you eager to protect public health and ensure food safety? Join our team in beautiful Whanganui as a Compliance Officer - Environmental Health and make a real difference in our community!

About the Role

  • Inspect food establishments to ensure food is safely prepared and served.
  • Address health complaints and ensure adherence to local laws and regulations.
  • Perform inspections to maintain compliance with the Food Act 2014.
  • Work with stakeholders to raise public health awareness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify health risks and recommend preventive actions.
  • Handle pollution-related issues.
  • Support the team by collecting drinking water samples in Whanganui.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A National Diploma in Environmental Health Science (or equivalent, per Regulations 2 and 3 of Environmental Health Officers Qualifications Regulations 1993) or a willingness to gain the qualifications.
  • Good knowledge of the Health Act 1956.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • A valid Class 1 New Zealand driver's license.
