Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a compassionate Special Needs Childcare Assistant in Queenstown to provide one-on-one support for children with diverse learning and developmental needs. You will work closely with lead teachers and specialists to implement tailored strategies and foster a positive learning environment for the child in your care.

The role emphasizes teamwork, ongoing training, and the ability to adapt activities for individual needs, ensuring safety, inclusion, and timely communication

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with special needs (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, developmental delays).
• Patience, empathy, and a strong understanding of inclusive educational practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support and supervision to children with special needs, ensuring their safety and engagement.
• Assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavioral intervention strategies.
• Facilitate social interaction and participation in group activities for children with special needs.
• Support children with daily routines, including feeding, personal care, and mobility, as required.
• Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and therapists regarding the child's progress and needs.
• Adapt learning materials and activities to suit the specific requirements of each child.
