Responsibilities
  • Assisting with personal cares (showering, bathing)
  • Assisting with household management and meal preparation
  • Supporting exercise programmes
  • Assisting with accessing the community
  • Bowel, Bladder, and Catheter cares
  • Moving and handling hoists and manual transfers
  • Medication support
Location and Employment Type

Job Location: Wellington and nearby regions (Wairarapa, Carterton, Masterton, Greytown, Kapiti Coast, Hutt Valley)

Employment Type: Permanent Full time (30+ Hours) or Part Time (Up to 29 Hours) or Casual (Cover shifts)

We offer a range of employment opportunities including casual, part-time, and full-time positions, which will be discussed further during the recruitment process.

Days of Work

As this is community-based work, rotating rosters would be involved including am, pm and weekend work. Your preferred hours of work can be discussed during the recruitment process.

We are looking for someone who would be comfortable covering between the hours of 6 am – 9 pm. The role also requires availability for sleepovers and weekend shifts. The duration of these hours may vary, ranging from shorter to longer periods, depending on the specific needs of the people we support.

You are a calm but confident-natured individual who can demonstrate resilience and understand the challenges of our service users. There are many responsibilities associated with being a support worker which can be challenging and fulfilling. It is rewarding when you are part of the support that enables a person to live their best lives in the community.

The candidate would have (Candidate Pre-Requisites):

  • Ideally, prior personal care experience is preferred.
  • Experience in working with intellectual and physical disabilities is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with complex medical conditions, like spinal injuries, traumatic brain injury
  • Access to a car and ability to drive independently (a full Driver's License is preferred)
  • Ability to drive a mobility van (training available)
  • A Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification is beneficial and those looking to enter the healthcare sector will also be considered (comprehensive training can be provided)
  • Flexibility to travel anywhere in and around Wellington
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating roster
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand is a must.

  • Pay Band: $24.13 - $30.78 per hour (This is based on the Pay Equity Settlement 2017 – hourly pay rates based on equivalency of Healthcare Qualifications assessed under Pay Equity).
