We are currently seeking experienced and qualified Support Workers for our Complex Care Pediatric Service User during the school terms.

Responsibilities may Include:
  • Working closely with our service user to provide support as they go about their daily tasks
  • Assisting with personal cares (showering, bathing)
  • Assisting with household management and meal preparation
  • Assisting with accessing the community
  • Moving and handling hoists and manual transfers
  • Medication support
  • Ensuring the service user's comfort, safety, and well-being at all times

Job Location: Christchurch, Canterbury

Employment Type: Part-Time (Up to 29 Hours)

We offer a range of employment opportunities including casual, part-time, and full-time positions, which will be discussed further during the recruitment process.

Days of work: As this is community-based work, 24/7 rotating rosters would be involved. Your preferred hours of work can be discussed during the recruitment process.

We are looking for dedicated support workers that are comfortable covering the following shifts: 7.30 am to 9 am, 2.45 pm to 4.45 pm, between Monday - Friday.

The duration of these hours may vary, ranging from shorter to longer periods, depending on the specific needs of the people we support.

You are a friendly, social, and compassionate person who loves engaging with others and building meaningful connections. The role involves many responsibilities that can be challenging and fulfilling. It is rewarding when you are part of the support that enables a person to live their best life in the community.

The candidate would have (Candidate Pre-Requisites):

  • Experience working with children (this may be in education, as a nanny, in your own family circle, or in other environments)
  • Experience in managing and working with behavioral issues
  • Experience in assisting children with their personal cares is preferred
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and independently when required
  • Previous experience in managing complex situations
  • Ability to collaborate about plans with other providers
  • Understanding of child's developmental needs
  • Understanding of child's disability needs and/or willingness to be upskilled
  • Willing to support child in family context; parent and siblings
  • A Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification is beneficial (comprehensive training can be provided)
  • Access to a car and ability to drive independently (a full New Zealand Driver's License is a must)
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating roster

  • Pay Band: $24.13 - $30.03 per hour (based on the Pay Equity Settlement 2017 – hourly pay rates based on equivalency of Healthcare Qualifications assessed under Pay Equity)
