About the Position | Te Mahi

Currently, we are looking for dedicated support workers to assist our service users in North and West Auckland, including areas such as Kumeu, Helensville, Waitakere, Muriwai, Wellsford, Kaukapakapa, and Warkworth.

Support work is fun, people-facing, challenging, and very rewarding. It is also a deeply empathetic journey. It is more than a job; it is an opportunity to provide invaluable support, led by the people you will be supporting.

Responsibilities may include:
  • Assisting with personal cares (showering, bathing)
  • Assisting with household management and meal preparation
  • Supporting exercise programmes
  • Assisting with accessing the community
  • Bowel, bladder, and catheter cares
  • Moving and handling hoists and manual transfers
  • Medication support

Job Location: Auckland

Employment Type: Permanent Full-time (30+ hours) or Part-Time (up to 29 hours)

We offer a range of employment opportunities, including casual, part-time, and full-time positions, which will be discussed further during the recruitment process.

Days of work: As this is community-based work, rotating rosters will be involved, including morning, afternoon, and weekend shifts. Your preferred hours can be discussed during the recruitment process.

We are looking for someone comfortable covering hours between 7 am and 11 pm. The specific hours may vary, depending on the needs of the people we support.

About you | He momo

You are a calm yet confident individual who can demonstrate resilience and understands the challenges faced by our service users. The role of a support worker can be both challenging and fulfilling. It is rewarding to be part of the support that enables a person to live their best life in the community.

Candidate prerequisites:
  • Ideally, prior personal care experience in resthomes and/or in the community
  • Familiarity with complex medical conditions, such as spinal injuries and traumatic brain injuries
  • Experience working with children with intellectual disabilities, such as Autism
  • Access to a car and ability to drive independently (a full New Zealand Driver's License is required)
  • Ability to drive a mobility van (training available)
  • A Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification is beneficial; those looking to enter the healthcare sector will also be considered (comprehensive training can be provided)
  • Flexibility to travel anywhere in Auckland
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating roster
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand is essential
