We are looking for up to 8 caring and reliable Community Support Workers to support a client with an intellectual disability and autism. This is a rewarding role where you can make a real difference every day.

Responsibilities
  • Working closely with our Service Users to provide support as they go about their daily tasks
  • Assisting with complex personal cares
  • Assisting with household management and meal preparation
  • Supporting exercise programmes
  • Assisting with accessing the community
  • Bowel, Bladder, and Catheter Care
  • Moving and handling hoists and manual transfers
  • Medication support
  • Support the Service Users in achieving positive goals in their lives and contribute to the effective day-to-day running of the services
  • Maintaining the Service User’s safety and well-being
About You

You are a calm and confident individual who demonstrates resilience and empathy, with a strong understanding of the challenges our service users may face. Being a support worker comes with many responsibilities—it can be both challenging and deeply rewarding. The greatest reward comes from being part of the support that enables a person to live their best life in the community.

What We’re Looking For
  • Experience supporting people with autism, intellectual disabilities, or challenging behaviours is a plus
  • Patience, compassion, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to flexible schedules
  • A genuine passion for helping others
  • A supportive mindset to help our Service Users achieve their goals for independent living in the community
  • Ideally prior personal care experience is preferred
  • Familiarity with complex medical conditions, like spinal injuries, traumatic brain injury
  • A Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification is beneficial and those looking to enter the healthcare sector will also be considered (comprehensive training can be provided)
  • Access to your own car and ability to drive independently (a Full New Zealand Driver's License is a must)
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating roster
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand is a must

  • Pay Band: $24.13 - $30.78 per hour (This is based on the Pay Equity Settlement 2017 – hourly pay rates based on equivalency of Healthcare Qualifications assessed under Pay Equity)
