Job summary

A community support organization in Auckland seeks a Community Support Worker to assist adults with disabilities. You will provide support with daily living tasks and help individuals participate in their communities. Ideal candidates should have empathy, effective communication skills, and a valid driver's license. Experience is a plus but not essential. The role is full-time with various shift options available.

Overview

Community Support Worker - Adult Services, Central Auckland; also listed as Community Support Worker - Residential - Central Auckland. Full time - 40 hours per week. Salary: $23.50 - $29.10 per hour. Central Auckland location.

Responsibilities
  • Take on tasks that are dynamic and will depend on the needs and dreams of each person. Provide assistance with personal activities such as community participation, socialising, work or education and daily living tasks.

  • Good at explaining and negotiating
  • Ability to communicate effectively and supportively with family, colleagues and the person you support
  • Ability and willingness to provide support and motivation with personal cares and daily living skills
  • Excellent, clear, understandable verbal and written English is a pre-requisite to be considered for this role
The ideal candidate will have
  • An interest in attaining a Community Support Worker Level Three or above qualification - we can support you to achieve this while you work
  • Experience supporting people with disabilities, and/or mental health issues, and/or behaviours that can be challenging is desirable but not necessary
  • Reliability, commitment, and passion for working with people
  • A full New Zealand driver’s licence
  • Able to pass a NZ police check
  • The ability to use a computer effectively, including programs such as Word, Internet Explorer, and email
Non-resident eligibility

If you are a non-resident applying for this role you must meet the following INZ Level 3 skill requirements to be considered:

  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience, or
  • A relevant qualification on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF) — this must be at least a level 4 qualification for a role at skill level 3, or a diploma for a role at skill level 2.
