Te Tūranga - The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Communications Lead to join our team at Tait Communications. This role is pivotal in driving the strategic direction and execution of internal and external communications across our global organization. You will be instrumental in maintaining and evolving Tait's brand voice and visual identity across all channels, ensuring consistency and impact.

This is a highly collaborative role that sits within the wider Marketing team and works across functions to deliver cohesive communication strategies that align with company goals and support our internal culture and external reputation.

The duties of the role will include:

  • Designing and implementing a global corporate communications strategy and calendar.
  • Leading the development of internal communications initiatives that enhance employee engagement, alignment, and change management.
  • Creating and managing high-quality external communications including press releases, social media, executive messaging, and media relations.
  • Ensuring consistent brand messaging across internal and external communications.
  • Managing crisis communications and overseeing media monitoring and reputation management.
  • Providing strategic direction and policy for sponsorship and community engagement initiatives.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including industry bodies, media, and strategic partners.
  • Leading and developing direct reports, including Tait's History Curator.

Ō pūkenga - About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a relevant tertiary qualification in business, marketing, communications, or a related field, along with substantial experience leading communication strategies in a complex, global environment.

As well as:

  • 5–10 years of experience in communications, media relations, or marketing communications.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing global communications strategies.
  • Experience influencing senior leaders and aligning communications with business strategy.
  • Strong writing, editing, and content development skills across traditional and digital media.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across diverse teams and time zones.
  • Experience managing change and crisis communications.
  • Knowledge of trademark protection and media monitoring practices is advantageous.
