Overview

Construction and Technical Recruitment (CTR) are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor who’s ready to step into a Commercial Manager role and lead the delivery of large-scale commercial construction projects valued at $50M and above.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a main contractor with a solid pipeline of work, supportive leadership, and an excellent reputation in the New Zealand market.

About the Role

As Commercial Manager, you’ll take the lead on the financial and contractual management of major projects across Auckland. You’ll be responsible for commercial strategy, team leadership, and ensuring the successful delivery of project outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Full commercial management of high-value construction projects ($50M+)
• Leading and mentoring QS and commercial teams
• Cost planning, reporting, procurement, and variation management
• Contract administration (NZS3910 and similar)
• Engaging with clients, consultants, and subcontractors
• Supporting business development and pre-construction activities

About You

You’re already a high-performing Senior QS with at least 5 years’ experience and are looking for a genuine step up. You’ve managed complex commercial projects, built strong client relationships, and are ready to lead from the front.

You will bring

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on large-scale builds in New Zealand
• Strong understanding of NZ construction contracts and procurement methods
• Confidence in leading commercial teams and driving results
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
