Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Tauranga is seeking an experienced nurse for a permanent part-time role in the Orthopaedic Ward. The 46-bed ward supports acute and elective orthopaedic patients with a mix of medical cases, on a 0.6 FTE (24 hours per week) schedule across a Monday-Sunday roster.

The ideal candidate brings post-op, trauma, and rehabilitation nursing experience, and works well in a fast-paced multidisciplinary team dedicated to excellent patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Current NZNC registration and Annual Practicing Certificate.
• Recent acute nursing experience (orthopaedic, surgical, rehab, or medical preferred).
• Excellent communication skills and clinical judgement.
• Flexibility to work rostered rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
• A commitment to continuous learning and equitable care.

Responsibilities

• Provide post-operative recovery and orthopaedic care.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to plan and deliver patient-centred care.
• Ensure patient safety, comfort and timely recovery milestones.
• Participate in rotating shifts including nights and weekends.
