Job summary

Brewed As in Mangawhai on the Northland coast is seeking a permanent, hands-on Head Chef to lead a small brigade and own the kitchen. You’ll work closely with the owners and FOH leadership, building a positive, high-performing kitchen culture and a balanced roster.

Own the menus, costs and day-to-day operation; drive seasonal updates and ensure a premier guest experience with local ingredients and strong hospitality values.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Head Chef role with ownership of the kitchen.
• Strong culinary and leadership skills and ability to develop people.

Responsibilities

• Develop, cost and manage day and evening menus for summer and winter seasons.
• Lead the kitchen during prep and service, maintaining high standards of flavour and presentation.
• Mentor and develop the team; manage rosters and labour within wage targets.
• Oversee food costs, ordering, stock control, inventory and waste.
• Source quality seasonal ingredients from local suppliers and ensure food safety and compliance.
