Job summary

PERSOL in Tauranga is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist / Programmer to join a well-established engineering business. This role offers diverse and challenging work, taking projects from engineering drawings through to finished precision components.

You'll machine engineering plastics, composites and metals on modern CNC equipment, program, set up and operate milling and turning machines, and collaborate with engineers and production teams to deliver quality parts.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Machining, Fitting & Turning, Toolmaking or similar.
• Proven CNC programming experience.
• Strong experience with CNC milling and turning.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Excellent understanding of machining principles and tolerances.
• Experience using CAM software.
• Proactive problem-solving abilities.
• Experience machining engineering plastics is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Program CNC machines from engineering drawings.
• Create and optimise CAM programs.
• Set up and operate CNC milling and turning machines.
• Manufacture precision components to tight tolerances.
• Conduct quality inspections and verify finished parts.
• Select appropriate tooling and machining strategies.
• Troubleshoot machining and programming issues.
• Collaborate with engineers and production teams.
• Maintain high standards of safety and workshop housekeeping.
