Job summary

Contour Engineering, a high precision CNC shop, seeks a fitter/turner/machinist for a full-time permanent role in Christchurch. The position involves setting and operating 3, 4 and 5 axis machines with a focus on accuracy and quality.

You will perform minor program changes in Siemens NX, read CAD drawings, and support in-process inspection to ensure parts meet exacting tolerances. A strong team player ethos and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years running 3, 4 and 5 axis machines.
• Able to make minor changes on the control.
• Experience with CAM software (Siemens NX) is a bonus.
• Strong attention to detail and problem solving.
• Extensive knowledge of measurement techniques and equipment.
• Positive can-do attitude and ability to meet deadlines.
• CNC precision manufacturing experience essential.

Responsibilities

• Setting and operating 3, 4 & 5 axis CNC machines.
• Performing minor program modifications on Siemens NX software.
• Reading and interpreting CAD models and drawings.
• Machining components, jigs and fixtures to spec.
• In‑process inspection and QC duties.
• Running machines simultaneously sometimes.
• Deburring parts to specification.
