Job description

This is a rare opportunity in a sort after location, where the mountains & rivers meet the sea. There is an abundance of outdoor activities on the doorstep, together with a lively café culture and artistic community. Motueka is also a gateway town to the Abel Tasman National Park.

Our current Manager is heading off to a well-deserved retirement, after 8 years of dedication to our wonderful club. The Motueka RSA is now seeking a special motivated and dynamic individual to take on the role of Secretary/Manager and lead our club into the future. With a focus on enhancing our members experiences and driving the clubs growth, we are committed to maintaining a vibrant and engaging environment. As the bridge between our Executive Committee and the community, you will ensure that our operations not only run efficiently but also thrive.

We offer a strong supportive membership base and are proud to say that we own the land & buildings. With a wide range of amenities including separate large bar & restaurant areas, pool and snooker tables, dartboards plus a smaller private meeting room we cater to many individual and group interests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the committee to develop and implement strategies to promote and publicise the club, aiming to increase membership and maximise facility usage, while ensuring adherence to all licensing and regulatory requirements.
  • Plan and organise a varied schedule of engaging activities and functions to drive turnover and profitability.
  • Lead marketing initiatives and manage all advertising efforts to increase visibility within the local community.
  • Oversee daily operations including maintaining effective stock control, managing staff, supplier, service and contractor relationships to ensure high standards of service and compliance.
  • Ensure club premises are well maintained, secure, and reflect a welcoming atmosphere for members and guests.
Ideal Candidate
  • Current Manager's Certificate in accordance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012.
  • Proven previous business, financial and hospitality management experience that demonstrates a strong grasp of operational best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, paired with a positive, friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Proven experience in a team leadership or supervisory position.
  • Experience with and ability to quickly learn new software, systems, and technologies with a strong focus on technology-based marketing usage to grow business.
  • A people person who is honest, reliable, and dedicated to customer service excellence.
