Job summary

Randstad Digital New Zealand is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to bridge cloud architecture and hands-on engineering in Wellington. You will own design and automated delivery across Azure, AWS, and on-premise environments, driving continuous delivery and DevOps best practices on a long-term contract.

Responsibilities include owning solution design, implementing IaC with Terraform, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines while ensuring high availability and security across hybrid environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as a Cloud Engineer with Linux and Windows management experience.
• Azure (including Virtual WAN) and AWS infra expertise.
• Hands-on Terraform for IaC delivery.
• Kubernetes environments (EKS, AKS, ARO, or OpenShift) experience preferred.
• Scripting in Python, PowerShell, or Shell.

Key Responsibilities

• Bridge architecture and engineering by owning solution design across Azure and AWS platforms.
• Deliver robust Infrastructure-as-Code utilising Terraform to drive automated deployment and scalability.
• Manage complex cloud networking, integration, identity, and security across hybrid environments.
• Optimise CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or GitLab.
• Drive continuous operational improvements and provide expert troubleshooting for enterprise cloud services.
• Contribute to on-call support rosters ensuring high availability and system performance.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• 5+ years as a Cloud Engineer with strong Linux and Windows management experience.
• Deep expertise in Azure (including Virtual WAN) and AWS cloud infrastructure solutions.
• Proven hands-on mastery of Terraform for Infrastructure-as-Code delivery in production.
• Solid experience with Kubernetes environments (EKS, AKS, ARO, or OpenShift) is preferred.
• Strong scripting abilities in Python, PowerShell, or Shell to drive enterprise automation.
• Relevant industry certifications (Azure DevOps Expert, AWS Certified, or CKA) are highly desirable.
