Job summary

Canterbury District Health Board in Christchurch is seeking a Clinical Physiologist to join the Intensive Care Department. You will deliver specialised technical and clinical support for respiratory therapy and monitoring across ICU, ensuring safe and effective care for critically ill patients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Physiolog y or equivalent required.
• Proven clinical experience in critical care or respiratory physiology preferred.
• Knowledge of critical care equipment and oxygen therapy systems.
• Current Practising Certificate and SCT membership desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support all critical care equipment systems in ICU, focusing on respiratory support technologies and monitoring.
• Contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration and quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure safe, effective management of equipment and clinical support services.

About the Role

This Clinical Physiologist role is part of a team providingspecialised technical and clinical support services within the Department ofIntensive Care at Christchurch Hospital. The Department of Intensive Caredelivers services including Tertiary Intensive and High Dependency Care,Deteriorating Patient Intensive Care Outreach Service, and the Air RetrievalService. As a member of our Scientific and Technical Teams, you will play a keyrole in delivering high-quality care in Waitaha/Canterbury, while joining acollaborative and supportive environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with amultidisciplinary team to ensure the safe and effective delivery of criticalcare services. In this varied and hands-on role you will support all criticalcare equipment systems within ICU, with particular focus on respiratory supporttechnologies, oxygen therapy systems, patient monitoring equipment and complexpatient transport requirements across Christchurch Hospital and Canterbury.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

About You

We are seeking a qualified Physiologist who is confidentworking across the scope of practice and thrives in a fast-paced clinicalenvironment.

Your skills will include:

• Bachelorof Science (or equivalent) in an appropriate field of health science e.g.Physiology
• Provenclinical experience in critical care, respiratory physiology or a relatedclinical specialty
• Knowledgeof critical care equipment, respiratory support technologies and oxygentherapy systems
• Stronganalytical skills with the ability to interpret clinical data accurately
• Excellenttime management and attention to technical detail
• Theability to work both independently and collaboratively within amultidisciplinary team
• Apatient-centred approach, with a commitment to cultural safety andequitable health outcomes
• Knowledgeof te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting yourjourney and taking ownership of your learning and growth
• CurrentPractising Certificate
• Membershipof SCT
• PostgraduateCertificate in Medical Technology or relevant postgraduate qualification
