Job summary

Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora in Blenheim invites a qualified pharmacist to join the Wairau Hospital Pharmacy team. This full-time role focuses on hospital medication management for inpatients and outpatients, with services including medicines reconciliation, dispensing, and clinical advice.

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in hospital pharmacy; qualified pharmacist with a passion for hospital pharmacy will be considered.
  • Hold registration with the New Zealand Pharmacy Council and Annual Practising Certificate or be eligible.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to medication safety

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical pharmacy services, including medicines reconciliation and optimization of treatments
  • Dispense and supply medications in accordance with hospital protocols and national standards

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and hospital guidelines for medication management
  • Support stock management, including procurement and safe storage of medicines

About the Role

As part of the NelsonMarlborough hospital pharmacy service, you will play a key role in ensuringsafe and effective medication management for hospital inpatients andoutpatients. This position involves working Monday to Friday between the hoursof 8am and 4.30pm.

You will alsoparticipate in the on-call roster once established in the role. The on-callduties extend from Monday to Friday 4.30pm to 8am the following morning orFriday evening to Monday morning.

As a pharmacist, you are responsible for:

  • Providing clinical pharmacyservices, including medicines reconciliation and optimization oftreatments
  • Dispensing and supplyingmedications in accordance with hospital protocols and national standards
  • Offering professional adviceto healthcare teams, patients, and caregivers to promote safe medicationuse

The team functions in a multidisciplinary setting, working closely withmedical, nursing, and allied health teams to ensure optimal medication use andpatient outcomes.
