Clinical Nurse Specialst - Operating Theatre, Burwood Hospital
  • Permanent full-time senior nursing opportunity available in Operating Theatre
  • Registered withthe Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC

We are seeking anenthusiastic and motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist who will enjoy leading ourteam of health professionals in this fast paced and challengingenvironment.

About You

This role will keepRegistered and Enrolled Nurses and Operating Suite Assistants up to date withthe skills required to work within the operating theatre environment. You willspend time on the floor leading care and identifying areas for improvement.

The CNS will be workingalongside members of our senior nursing team to provide a consistent approachto care delivery across the service. You will be expected to participate inquality projects and in the development of clinical pathways with the perioperativespecialty. You will also be responsible for equipment, consumables, andpreference books alongside being the key link to the surgeons related to thesurgical specialities at Burwood Operating Theatre.

  • Youwill be an experienced practitioner with expert knowledge and skills inPeri-operative nursing.
  • Extensivesurgical experience in several settings would be advantageous.
  • Youshould have proven leadership ability and be able to demonstrate that youare adaptable, flexible to achieve solution focused outcomes.
  • Motivatedand flexible self-starter with the ability to work both in a team andautonomously.
  • Youwill act as a specialist resource for other nurses, medical practitioners,and patients.
  • Havequality improvement/change management knowledge or experience.

Your skills will include:

  • Be registered with the NursingCouncil of New Zealand.
  • Hold a current Nursing Councilof New Zealand practising certificate.
  • At least five years working inthe perioperative environment
  • Holds or is actively workingtowards a relevant Post-graduate Nursing Diploma. Diploma to be completedwithin an agreed timeframe. Ideally relevant to perioperative.
  • Ability to work autonomouslywith advanced nursing skills comparable to senior nurse or expert PDRPlevel.
  • Demonstrated skills in nursingleadership and acts as a clinical role model for nurses.
  • Displays a high degree ofconfidence, communication skill, organisational skills, and personalmotivation.
  • Knowledge and ability to usecomputers and related technology efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to developnursing standards and quality initiatives.
  • Demonstrated teaching,mentoring and coaching skills.
  • Demonstrated involvement inresearch that has changed nursing practice.
