Qualifications

  • Must have full NZ professional registration in relevant field.
  • 6+ years of clinical experience in Mental Health/Addictions required.

Job description

Clinical Lead Teina - Youth Mental Health

ADL's Clinical Lead Teina (2IC) plays a key role in supporting clinical leadership across ADL. Reporting to and working closely with the Clinical Lead, and collaborating with other leaders, the Clinical Lead Teina will:

  1. Manage specific service delivery contracts, including Community Support Work (South Canterbury), Transition to Adulthood (Central Lakes), and Te Aro Hou (all regions).
  2. Oversee and contribute to strategic projects.
  3. Develop and review clinical systems and documentation.
  4. Lead ADL's workforce development programme.
  5. Provide leadership support to Service Leaders.

The Clinical Lead Teina will also carry a small clinical caseload delivering therapeutic services to young people, including the Thrive Te Pae Ora service, designed to meet the needs of rangatahi/young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues. In this role, they will:

  1. Provide therapeutic counselling for at-risk young people aged 12 - 24 years.
  2. Maintain professional registration.
  3. Utilise best practice methods in all clinical practice, with working knowledge of modalities such as MI, CBT, ACT, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy.
  4. Provide a service that reflects the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
  5. Respect the diverse ethnic and cultural heritage of New Zealand and utilise culturally appropriate counselling practices.
  6. Work with co-existing mental health and addiction issues as appropriate.

This is a permanent role based in Dunedin, with some travel required to other ADL offices (Invercargill, Cromwell, Timaru).

Skills and experience

  • Current full NZ professional registration (e.g., Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, Social Worker, Counsellor (DAPAANZ or NZAC), Nurse Therapist)
  • Six plus years of clinical experience in Mental Health and/or Addictions field
  • Experience in management and/or leadership roles
  • Significant knowledge of delivering brief interventions to diverse individuals
  • Experience in motivational interviewing, ACT/CBT, solution-focused, whānau & cultural therapies
  • Experience in Treaty and Equity responsiveness
  • Training in cross-cultural practice
  • Committed to a collaborative approach and adaptable to high levels of team synergy
  • Effective project planning and organization skills
