Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

Clinical Lead Veterinarian – West Coast Vets, Greymouth

Step up in your veterinary career, without giving up the life you want outside work.

At West Coast Vets, you do not have to choose between meaningful clinical leadership and a lifestyle that gives you room to breathe. We are looking for an experienced veterinarian who is ready to move into, or grow further in, a Clinical Lead role with our Greymouth team.

Picture this:

  • Finishing work and heading straight to the river, beach or bush
  • Weekends exploring the West Coast, from national parks to alpine adventures
  • A short commute instead of a daily grind
  • Being part of a community where people know your name

Why West Coast Vets?

West Coast Vets is proudly New Zealand owned, with clinics in Greymouth and Hokitika. You will be joining a close-knit, supportive team of experienced professionals who care deeply about their clients, their patients and each other. You will also be connected to a wider veterinary network across New Zealand and Australia, giving you access to career pathways, training opportunities and professional support while still enjoying the down-to-earth feel of a local West Coast clinic.

West Coast Vets was built on a simple belief: being rural shouldn't mean compromising on quality.

Our clients include farmers running complex businesses and pet owners who care deeply about their animals. They deserve high-quality, practical veterinary care, and delivering that starts with great people and strong clinical leadership.

Our Purpose, Here for Good

"Here for Good" is not a slogan, it is how we make decisions every day.

It is about:

  • Backing our clients and their long-term success
  • Investing in better outcomes for animals and people
  • Building trusted, long-term relationships, not transactions
  • Supporting each other to do our best work

We do not just want to know the animals. We want to understand the people and the bigger picture.

The Role

This is an ideal next step for an experienced veterinarian who enjoys clinical work and is ready to take greater ownership of team development, standards of care and the future direction of the clinic. You will remain hands-on as a vet while continuing to grow a capable small animal team in Greymouth.

  • Lead, coach and support a small, experienced team of veterinarians
  • Help develop clinical capability, confidence and consistency across the team
  • Contribute to clinic strategy, service improvement and better animal health outcomes
  • Work alongside the wider leadership group while keeping the autonomy and connection of a local clinic

What You Will Get

  • A genuine Clinical Lead opportunity
  • Generous CPD and development pathways to support your leadership growth
  • Access to a wider professional network across New Zealand and Australia
  • Supportive, well-resourced clinics and a team that backs each other
  • A culture that genuinely values wellbeing and balance

What We Are Looking For

  • A confident, experienced veterinarian ready to step into clinical leadership
  • Someone who enjoys mentoring others and building strong client relationships
  • A practical, adaptable and solutions-focused approach
  • And yes - a good sense of humour helps

Ready for a Change?

If you are looking for more than just another vet job, and you are ready for a role where you can influence care, grow people and enjoy a lifestyle that is hard to beat, we would love to hear from you.
