A dynamic not-for-profit organization in Invercargill is seeking a clinical professional to deliver therapeutic services to young people facing mental health issues. This permanent full-time role includes conducting clinical intakes and providing counselling for individuals aged 12-24. The ideal candidate holds a current New Zealand professional registration and has experience in mental health or addictions. They will work collaboratively within a dedicated team to support and empower clients, reflecting the principles of cultural diversity in New Zealand.
A clinical role delivering a range of therapeutic services to young people in Southland, including the Thrive Te Pae Ora service, which is designed to meet the needs of rangatahi/young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues.
Part of this role is clinical intake and as part of the ADL-wide clinical intake team you will work collaboratively to facilitate all aspects of intake and support while clients are waiting to be allocated to a clinician.
Provide therapeutic counselling for young people at risk, aged 12 - 24 years.
Maintain professional registration
Utilise best practice methods in all clinical practice, and have working knowledge of the following modalities: MI, CBT, ACT, Solution Focused Brief Therapy
Provide a service that reflects the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
Respect the diverse ethnic and cultural heritage of New Zealand and utilise culturally appropriate counselling practices
Work with co-existing mental health and addiction issues as appropriate,
Work as an effective and collaborative member of a regional team for the wider organisation as a whole
Work closely with the Intake Team, Service Leaders and Administration around all aspects of intake and support while clients are waiting for the allocation of a clinician
This is a permanent full-time role.

Current full NZ professional registration (i.e. Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, Social Worker, Counsellor (DAPAANZ or NZAC), Nurse Therapist)
Experience working as a clinician in the Mental Health and /or Addictions field
Knowledge of delivering brief interventions to a variety of individuals
Knowledge of motivational interviewing, ACT/ CBT, solution-focused, Whanau & cultural therapies would be an advantage
