Overview

Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Certificated teacher

Matawai School is a high-performing full primary school serving a highly supportive and engaged community in the beautiful hill country approximately 45 minutes inland from Gisborne.

Position

We are seeking a passionate, skilled, and adaptable teacher to join our team in a permanent part-time position (0.6 FTTE) providing principal release across our small, vibrant rural school. There is potential for this role to increase to 0.8 FTTE as negotiated.

This position offers a wonderful opportunity to teach across different year levels in a supportive environment where relationships, creativity, and connection to place are at the heart of learning. You’ll enjoy teaching in a school with an indoor heated swimming pool, immaculate grounds, small class sizes, and incredible parent and community support.
