Job summary

Higgins is seeking an experienced Driver Class 5 / Heavy Maintenance Operator to join our Napier team. You will operate heavy trucks, plant and machinery to support projects, delivering materials safely and efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship.

The role emphasises safety, teamwork and reliability, with a permanent full-time position offering 40 hours per week and benefits. Applicants should have a valid Class 5 licence and WTR endorsement, and be committed to following

Qualifications

• Class 5 Licence and WTR endorsement (essential).
• Solid experience operating heavy trucks, plant, and machinery.
• Experience transporting plant, product and asphalt is a plus.
• Background in civil construction or road maintenance.
• Ability to follow instructions, plans, and schedules.
• Site Safe Passport (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Operate Class 5 trucks, plant and machinery safely and efficiently.
• Complete deliveries and project work to specification and industry best practice.
• Follow job instructions, work plans and company procedures.
• Carry out daily pre-start checks and report maintenance needs.
• Maintain logbooks, paperwork and service records.
• Support the crew and contribute to a positive team culture.
• Interact professionally with clients, subcontractors, and the public.
• Assist with manual labour when required.
• Ensure all plant and equipment is secure when not in use.
