Job summary

Nz Transport Agency Waka Kotahi in Nelson is seeking experienced Class 5 drivers to join a major civil construction programme in Picton starting January 2027. You will operate Class 5 truck and trailer units, transport materials to and from sites, and work across quarries, with vehicle handling in busy environments.

Applicants must have a full Class 5 licence, civil construction driving experience, and be comfortable reversing trucks and using Road Ranger gearboxes.

Qualifications

• Full Class 5 licence required.
• Proven civil construction driving experience.
• Experience reversing truck and trailer units.
• Site Safe or ConstructSafe certification required.
• Reliable, safety-conscious and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Operate Class 5 truck and trailer units.
• Transport materials to and from civil construction sites.
• Work in and around quarries and construction sites.
• Reverse and manoeuvre truck and trailer combinations.
• Operate safely around heavy machinery and site personnel.
