Job summary

Managed Labour Hire in Christchurch, NZ, seeks experienced civil-truck drivers for a mix of tipper, water cart, and moxie work across Canterbury. Roles suit those wanting home nights with some night shifts; Class 5 work and higher rates are available.

You'll join MLH staff, not a contractor, with weekly pay and long-term opportunities on local projects. Right to work in NZ is required, and drug testing is standard.

Managed Labour Hire – Christchurch, South Island

You'll be driving a real mix of gear on civil and earthworks sites across Christchurch, Rolleston and Rangiora — 6-wheeler tippers, water carts, and moxies (articulated dumpers) for the bulk work. Some of our drivers spend a whole summer on a water cart; others get moved around depending on the job. It's tipping, bulk cartage, delivering hotmix and moving machinery for our long-term clients — not line haul.

A quick word on right to work

You'll need to already be living in New Zealand with the right to work here. These roles are based in Canterbury and we're not offering visa sponsorship, so if you're not currently in NZ with existing work rights, we won't be able to consider your application.

Key responsibilities

About you

• Real civil site experience across a range of trucks
• Someone who respects the truck and looks after the gear
• The right to work in NZ (no sponsorship, sorry)
• This role includes pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing
• Your Class 5 — there's higher-paid Class 5 work here too
• Your WTR endorsement, so you can self load or jump on rollers and other gear on site
• ConstructSafe or Site Safe, and Traffic Management tickets
• $30–$33+/hr, paid weekly — and it's a real employee rate. Class 5 and WTR work pays more.
• Holiday pay, sick leave, KiwiSaver and ACC on top, never rolled into your hourly
• Home every night, with seasonal night shifts on offer if you want them — with a night allowance or a higher rate
• Genuine long-term work with established local Canterbury contractors
• Real variety — the more you can drive and operate, the longer we can keep you busy
