Job summary

Fulton Hogan in Hamilton is seeking an experienced Laboratory Technician to join our team. In this hands-on role, you'll support daily laboratory operations and maintain IANZ requirements, working with our Laboratory Technicians and Laboratory Manager across Waikato.

You will perform sampling and testing of civil construction materials, contribute to mix design work, and report results accurately and on time. A positive, team-focused attitude and pride in quality are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in a civil engineering laboratory or similar science-based lab.
• Practical knowledge of aggregate, asphalt, or site testing.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs.
• Positive, team-focused attitude and willingness to develop technical capability.

Responsibilities

• Sampling and testing civil construction materials, including aggregates, soils and asphalt.
• Completing site testing across New Zealand when required.
• Assisting with aggregate and asphalt mix design work.
• Recording, analysing and reporting test results accurately and on time.
• Following IANZ requirements, test methods, and safe work practices.

In this hands-on role, you'll work alongside our Laboratory Technicians and Laboratory Manager to support daily laboratory operations and maintain IANZ requirements.

The varied, practical work contributes to projects across Waikato.

• Completing site testing, including road and airport texture testing throughout New Zealand when required.
• Assisting with aggregate and asphalt mix design work.
• Recording, analysing and reporting test results accurately and on time.
• Consistently following IANZ requirements, test methods, work instructions and safe work practices.

• Confident communication skills, with the ability to clearly report results and work effectively with clients and colleagues.
