Job summary

PCL is seeking an experienced excavator operator to join our civil team in the wider Wellington region, with jobs based on the Kapiti Coast/Levin area preferred.

You’ll work Monday–Friday, 7am–5pm, with occasional Saturdays and overtime to suit project needs. Candidates should have extensive excavation experience and a valid Class 1 licence with WTR endorsement, plus strong safety awareness.

Qualifications

• Experience in excavation works (roads, pavement, drainage).
• Valid Class 1 licence with WTR endorsement.
• Ability to undertake pre-start plant checks and identify issues.
• Carry out ground duties (plate compactors) and support the team.
• Health and safety minded with understanding of best practice.
• Drug free with pre-employment screening.
• Awareness of environmental requirements.

Job description

We are on the search for an experienced excavator operator to work within one of our civil teams in the wider Wellington region, though this position is likely to be placed on jobs based in the Kapiti Coast/Levin area, so candidates based in these areas are preferred.

We have a strong focus on getting the right fit within our team, as our people are the most important part of our business. We generally work Monday – Friday, 7am – 5pm, however at times you may also be required to work Saturdays and outside of these hours to help your team get the job done.

To be considered for the role you will need to:

• Have extensive experience in excavation works, such as road pavement, preparation and drainage, with other mobile plant being an advantage. (rollers, dumpers)
• Hold a current class 1 licence with W.T.R endorsement
• Be competent at undertaking pre-start plant checks and have the ability to identify issues
• Carry out ground duties such as the use of plate compactors and all physical activities to support your team
• Health and safety minded and have a good understanding of best practice
• Be drug free and undertake pre-employment screening
• Have awareness of environmental requirements
