About the Opportunity – Casual Civil Engineering Laboratory Technician

Are you ready to contribute to the future of New Zealand’s infrastructure by ensuring quality and safety in every project? We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our Christchurch-based team as a Civil Engineering Laboratory Technician. The work will be hands-on and physical, requiring a reasonable degree of physical capability. The nature of the work may require night shifts and weekend work, as well as occasionally travelling to other regions and staying away from home.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct a variety of laboratory tests on soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials.
  • Prepare samples, maintain laboratory equipment, and ensure all procedures adhere to company quality assurance protocols.
  • Accurately record, analyse, and report data, communicating results to project managers and engineering teams.
  • Assist with site visits to obtain field samples and conduct on-site testing as required.
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, supporting the company’s commitment to a safe and inclusive workplace.
What you bring to the role

You will be a great team player, enthusiastic about learning, passionate about the Civil Engineering industry, and not afraid of rolling your sleeves up and getting your hands dirty!

  • Currently studying (Bachelor of Earth and Environmental Sciences or other industry-specific degree)
  • Experience in the use of MS Word and Excel.
  • Full New Zealand driver’s licence
  • Comfortable working sole-charge and in a team environment
  • Hold a minimum Class 1 full clean driver’s licence
  • Right to work in New Zealand
  • Most of all, a great attitude!
