Job summary

Veolia Australia and New Zealand is seeking a Civil Construction Operator to join the Queenstown capital works team. You will help deliver three waters infrastructure projects on site, ensuring safe, efficient and timely completion with a focus on quality workmanship.

Ideal candidates have hands-on trade experience and a relevant qualification; training is provided for the right person. To apply you must be a NZ citizen, resident, or have the right to work in NZ.

Qualifications

  • Trade experience is desirable.
  • Exposure to water/wastewater industry preferred.
  • Ability to establish working relationships with colleagues and contractors.
  • Fault finding on damaged 3 waters infrastructure desirable.
  • Civil works and operation of plant including excavators.
  • Class 2 and 4 trucks experience preferred.
  • Strong problem solving and methodologies.
  • Motivation, enthusiasm and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Support the capital works team on site to ensure safe, efficient, and timely completion of all project deliverables.
  • Execute all aspects of capital works projects from establishment through to completion.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and implement safety measures to maintain a zero-harm work environment.
  • Coordinate with Team Lead, contractors, and internal departments to facilitate seamless project execution and maintain clear communication.
  • Ensure all work is completed to the highest quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate on-site project documentation.

The Opportunity

The Capital Works Operator is responsible for delivering construction projects across the three waters infrastructure to enable Veolia to meet its approved capital works programme. The focus of work will be on capital works, however the work will vary according to contractual and client needs.

Experience
  • Relevant hands-on trade specific experience.
  • Exposure to the water and/or waste water industry and basic understanding of various water treatment technologies and processes is preferable.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues and contractors and to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to fault find on damaged 3 waters infrastructure.
  • Civil works and operation of various plant including excavators
  • Class 2 and 4 trucks
  • Proven problem solving skills and proposed methodologies.
  • Motivation and enthusiasm, a keen eye for detail and a desire for excellent customer service.
