Job summary

Active Explorers Swanson is seeking a reliable Van Driver / Kaiako (Non-Certificated) for a 6-month fixed-term position. You will safely transport tamariki aged 3 months to 5 years to and from the centre, support kaiako, and assist with daily routines while maintaining a positive, nurturing environment.

The role requires a full, clean driving licence and a patient, safety‑minded approach. Join a welcoming team and help us provide engaging, exploratory experiences for young children in Swanson.

Qualifications

• Full, clean driver’s licence required.
• Confident, patient driver with good road safety knowledge.
• Ability to build positive relationships with children, families and staff.

Responsibilities

• 35.5 hours per week across 5 days.
• Safely transporting tamariki to and from the centre daily.
• Driving children to excursions and activities as required.
• Ensuring children are safely secured and supervised in vans.
• Complete maintenance on the van when needed.
• Communicating with parents/caregivers and centre team.
• Keeping the van clean, tidy and well maintained.
• Supporting kaiako with care, supervision and engagement of tamariki.
• Assisting with daily routines and play-based activities.
• Working collaboratively to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
