Job summary

Nelson Young Parents’ School, based at Auckland Point School, is seeking a reliable transport assistant to move students and their children to and from Auckland Point School each day during the school year. The role is part-time, term-time only, with split shifts in the mornings and afternoons.

The successful candidate should be friendly, outgoing, and enjoy working with teenagers and children, showing empathy and trustworthiness.

Qualifications

• Reliable and caring person.

• Willing to perform basic care and maintenance of a van and keep WOF/registration current.
• Police vetting will be undertaken; a P licence endorsement would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Transport students and their children to and from Auckland Point School each day (term-time).
• Split shifts: approximately 7:45am–9:15am and 3:00pm–4:30pm, Monday to Friday.
• Occasional additional driving during the school day.
• Help with basic care and maintenance of the van and ensure WOF and registration are current.

Job description

The Nelson Young Parents’ School is based at Auckland Point School and provides young parents in the Nelson region with the opportunity to continue their secondary education alongside childcare facilities.

We are seeking a reliable and caring person to transport students and their children to and from Auckland Point School each day during the school year.

The successful applicant will have a friendly and outgoing personality, enjoy working with teenagers and children, and demonstrate empathy and understanding of the young parents’ school environment. Reliability, organisation, initiative and a high level of trust are essential.

This is a permanent, part-time, term-time only position of 15 hours per week, with a proposed start date of 1 February 2027. The role involves split shifts, approximately 7:45am to 9:15am and 3:00pm to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday. Additional driving work may occasionally be required during the school day.

Responsibilities will also include basic care and maintenance of the van and ensuring its Warrant of Fitness and registration remain current.

Police vetting and screening will be undertaken in accordance with the Children’s Act 2014. A P licence endorsement would be advantageous.
