Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

Help improve immunisation access and health outcomes for tamariki and whānau across Waikato.

We are looking for a passionate child immunisation improvement nurse to join our Waikato team in a 12-month fixed-term role, working 32 hours per week.

In this relationship-focused role, you will work alongside general practices, whānau and community partners to help ensure tamariki receive timely immunisations and trusted information. You will join a supportive, equity-focused team with a particular commitment to improving outcomes for Māori and Pasifika children and other priority groups.

No two days will be quite the same. You will spend time across the rohe:

  • Building trusted relationships with general practices, community partners and whānau.
  • Helping practices strengthen their immunisation systems and processes.
  • Mentoring, facilitating and sharing practical knowledge.
  • Supporting hauora and community events.
  • Leading small improvement activities that make immunisation services easier to access.

This could be a great fit if you enjoy working with people, solving practical problems and turning good ideas into better experiences for tamariki and whānau.

About You

You will bring warmth, curiosity and a commitment to equitable child health outcomes. You will be comfortable working independently in the community while remaining closely connected to your team.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and evidence of competency to practice.
  • At least two years' post-registration nursing experience.
  • Current status as an independent authorised vaccinator.
  • A current full New Zealand driver licence.
  • Experience working with pēpi, tamariki and their whānau in a health setting.
  • An understanding of the Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora immunisation programme.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to build relationships, introduce new ideas and support service improvement.
  • The ability to work flexibly and manage competing responsibilities.

It would also be helpful if you have:

  • Experience in mentoring or facilitation.
  • Experience using practice management systems.
  • Confidence using Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

If you meet most of these requirements and are excited by the purpose of the role, we encourage you to apply.

What We Offer

At Pinnacle, you can expect:

  • A supportive team committed to improving equity and health outcomes for communities.
  • An organisation that seeks to uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi through partnership, participation and protection.
  • Flexible working arrangements that support a healthy and balanced working life.
  • Additional gifted leave.
  • Career development and training opportunities.
  • The chance to influence immunisation improvement work across Pinnacle.
  • Medical insurance, employee assistance services and free influenza vaccinations.

Applications close at 5pm on Friday, 18 September 2026.
