Responsibilities and Qualifications

Must be at least a minimum of 3 years experience for this position.

Must be qualified for the position applied for.

Certificates of Competency or Proficiency must be valid.

Must have valid MNZ Medical.

Must pass a Drug and Alcohol test and may be required to undergo a pre-employment medical.

Must provide referee names and contacts.

Hold a valid Chief Engineer Officer Certificate of Competency (STCW MEC1) issued by an IMO-recognized authority.

Preferably holds a valid Tanker Endorsement but not required.

Proficient knowledge of marine engineering principles, systems, and equipment, including diesel engines, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate instructions clearly to crew members.

Familiarity with relevant maritime regulations and industry standards, including SOLAS, MARPOL, and ISM Code.

Physical fitness and ability to work in demanding conditions at sea for extended periods.

Additional certifications or training in relevant areas such as advanced firefighting, medical care, or Bulk Carrier operations may be advantageous.
