Job summary

A leading hotel group in New Zealand is looking for a kitchen team member at the Heartland Hotel Fox Glacier. You will prepare and serve meals, ensuring adherence to food safety standards. Ideal candidates have a passion for cooking and at least 2 years of experience. The position is a fixed-term contract from October 2025 to April 2026, with a pay rate of $30 per hour.

Join Our Kitchen Team on the Stunning West Coast at Heartland Hotel Fox Glacier!

Job Details
  • Employment Type: Fixed Term Contract
  • Summer Season: October 2025 - April 2026
  • Location: 11 Cook Flat Road, Fox Glacier
  • Hours: 30 hours per week guaranteed across a 7-day roster. More hours available if you want to pick that up.
  • Hourly Rate: $30.00 per hour
Responsibilities
  • Preparation, cooking and serving of food for service.
  • Preparation, cooking and serving of staff meals.
  • Ensure all food is served and stored at the correct temperatures and meets hotel standards, menu specifications and kitchen guidelines.
  • Clean and sanitise work areas, equipment, utensils and dishes.
  • Store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage.
  • Follow all sanitation and hygienic food handling procedures set out by legislation and hotel policy.
  • Assisting with any other kitchen duties as required by the Head Chef or Sous Chef.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • 2 years experience in a similar role (preferred)
  • A certificate at NZQF Level 4, or higher, in Cookery preferred.
  • A current Food Handling Certificate is beneficial.
  • Passion for food and dedication to delivering high-quality dishes.
  • Flexible in availability to work morning and evening shifts.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Responsible and reliable, with the ability to work early mornings and weekends.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
