Job description

Wā Ora Montessori School is an Area School (Primary/High School) with an adjoining private Montessori Preschool. Located in Lower Hutt, Wellington, close to bush walks, beaches, a great cultural scene and some of the world’s best restaurants, cafes and coffee. Wā Ora is the only Montessori School in New Zealand that nurtures the child from 0 to 18 years. We are a community-based school with close connections to our whānau (families).

We are seeking an experienced and passionate leader for the position of centre manager Preschool. This is a non-contacted position overseeing the EC sector, including four classrooms, outdoor environment, Playgroup, Before/After School Care.

You will be part of our innovative and friendly senior leadership team in a highly collaborative working environment and support, enhance and promote Wā Ora’s special character. You will also take on the role of Board/Council staff representative, attending meetings where necessary.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience overseeing/teaching in a Montessori environment
  • Current New Zealand teacher registration
  • Knowledge of and administrative experience in dealing with New Zealand ECE regulations and licencing criteria
  • Experience conducting appraisals, self-reviews, mentoring, coaching new and experienced teachers.

Remuneration:

  • Additional 5MU ($5K each).

You will have a sense of humour, love and respect young children and appreciate the potential in the first plane of development. You will work well with parents, be capable of juggling several tasks at once and have excellent attention to detail.

This position is for a start date in July (date negotiable).
