Job summary

Parklands Playcentre invites a part-time Centre Coordinator to work with centre whānau and staff, delivering high-quality, whānau-led sessions in alignment with Playcentre Philosophy. You will build capability, provide guidance, and ensure programmes reflect Te Whāriki and related ECE regulations.

Strong relationship skills, knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and a current First Aid certification are essential, as is NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.

Qualifications

• Developing whānau to be the first and best educators for their tamariki through rich, child-led curriculum.
• Role-modelling and supporting the delivery of high quality, whānau-led sessions.
• Providing advice and support to centre whānau on curriculum, adult education and health and safety.
• Ensure sessions meet regulatory and health and safety requirements.
• Recognise the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and promote Māori cultural values.

• Tuesday & Thursday 9.00am – 2.30pm
• Permanentposition during term time only

About the role

Working in collaboration with centre whānau and other centre support staff, the Centre Coordinator focuses on building adult capability and confidence.

As the Person Responsible on session, this role provides high quality support and pedagogical guidance to Playcentre whānau. The Centre Coordinator ensures sessions and programmes reflect Playcentre Philosophy and enriches children’s learning and development.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Developing whānau to be the first and best educators for their tamariki by ensuring rich, meaningful, child-led curriculum experiences.
• Role-modelling and supporting the delivery of high quality, whānau-led sessions.
• Providing advice and support to centre whānau focusing on curriculum, adult education and health and safety to support session delivery.
• Ensure sessions meet regulatory and legislative requirements including Health and Safety obligations.
• Recognise the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how they relate to Playcentre and actively engage in promotion of Māori cultural values.

You will be confident building and maintaining strong relationships, providing guidance and solutions with a centre-focused approach.

You will also have:

• Passion for Playcentre philosophy and empowering whānau.
• Course 3 of the Playcentre Education Diploma or equivalent ECE Qualification Level 4+.
• Confidence using technology to support learning & administration.
• Strong knowledge of Te Whāriki, ECE regulations, and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• Hold and maintain appropriate First Aid certification.
• NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
