Job summary

Fletcher Building in Auckland, North Island, is seeking a strategic Category Manager to lead the Timber category with oversight across landscaping and rural. You will drive category performance through strong supplier partnerships, pricing and product range management, and a clear understanding of customer and market trends.

Working cross-functionally, you’ll ensure a competitive, innovative and customer-focused offer. This is a full-time permanent role offering 40 hours a week.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Category Management or similar commercial role.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute customer-focused category strategies.
• Strong supplier management, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and decision-making capabilities.
• Commercially astute with ability to translate insights into results.
• Able to collaborate across multiple internal teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage pricing and cost of goods to remain competitive and optimise margins.

We’re looking for a strategic, commercially driven Category Manager to lead our Timber category, with oversight across landscaping and rural.

You’ll drive category performance through strong supplier partnerships, effective pricing and product range management, and a clear understanding of customer and market trends. Working cross-functionally, you’ll ensure a competitive, innovative and customer-focused offer.

Key Responsibilities Develop and execute category strategies to deliver sales growth, profitability and supply continuity

This is a full-time permanent role offering 40 hours a week. Based full time from our Support office in Penrose

• Proven experience in Category Management, Product Management, or a similar commercial role, with strong exposure to Timber
• Demonstrated success developing and executing customer-focused category strategies that drive commercial performance
• Highly developed supplier management, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
• Strong analytical, organisational, and decision-making capabilities
• Commercially astute, with the ability to identify opportunities and translate insights into results
• Strong team focus who thrives on developing and growing
