Job summary

SPCA Christchurch is seeking a qualified Veterinary Nurse to join our Christchurch Centre on a casual basis to cover leave and busy periods. You will deliver professional vet nursing care, assist vets with surgeries and treatments, and help with the preparation of surgical environments.

You will maintain hygiene, complete accurate records, support foster carers and volunteers, and deliver animal enrichment programs in line with SPCA welfare standards, while building strong relationships with

Qualifications

A recognised Veterinary Nursing qualification with current registration.
Experience in a clinical setting (shelter medicine is a bonus).
Strong organisational, communication and multitasking skills.
Ability to educate and support others in animal welfare best practices.
Commitment to high standards of animal care, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Provide professional vet nursing care and support across a variety of animals (domestic, un-socialised, and wildlife).
Assist vets with surgeries, treatments and the preparation of surgical environments.
Ensure accurate and timely completion of documentation, reports, and records.
Support foster carers and volunteers to provide safe and consistent care.
Maintain hygiene protocols and ensure a safe environment for animals, staff, and the public.
