Job summary

Wakefield Hospital in Wellington is seeking a casual Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse to join our wards, delivering evidence-based nursing care as part of a high-performing team.

Availability to work night shifts and weekends is essential. The role requires NZ Nursing Council APC and a relevant degree or hospital-based training, plus at least 2 years of ward experience. You will collaborate closely with medical colleagues to ensure patient safety and high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse with current NZ Nursing Council APC.
• Relevant bachelor’s degree or hospital-based training.
• At least 2 years nursing experience in wards.
• Knowledge of best practice nursing standards of care.
• Computer literate and able to use health information systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based nursing care for patients.
• Provide care in accordance with best nursing practices and policies, collaborating with patients, families and the healthcare team.
• Critique new ideas and developments before adopting new evidence-based practices.
• Anticipate patient requirements, discuss with medical colleagues, and organise investigations and equipment.
• Maintain patient safety and manage risks and potential complications in treatment and the surgical environment.
