About the role

We are seeking an experienced Carpenter to join our team at Blokhaus' in Nelson. This role has multiple carpentry role options available, including working on architectural, residential and commercial sites. You will be a key part of our skilled construction team, contributing to the delivery of premium quality homes and buildings.

What you'll be doing

• Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements
• Measuring, cutting, and assembling wood, drywall, and other building materials to construct walls, floors, roofs, and other structures
• Installing various ceiling types in residential and commercial properties
• Installing doors, windows, cabinets, and other fixtures according to design specifications
• Repairing and maintaining existing structures, including fixing damaged or worn-out components
• Collaborating with other tradespeople, such as electricians and plumbers, to ensure seamless project completion
• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations

What we're looking for

• Minimum 3 years relative carpenter experience (Qualification not compulsory, but skillset must be to the trade standard of carpentry)
• Proficiency with hand and power tools
• Proven track record of high-quality carpentry work, particularly in the residential construction sector
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, and specifications
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to address any challenges that arise
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering premium quality work
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently
• A valid driver's licence and your own reliable transportation
