Overview

Part-time Permanent Position (0.8 FTE/4 days per week, with scope for Full Time Position), Term 1 2026 Start.

We are a high-performing school that aims to give every student the opportunity to excel. Rangitoto College is in search of a dedicated, innovative Careers Advisor to join our dynamic and growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to ensure every student has a viable post-school pathway.

This is a Part-time Permanent position (0.8 FTE) starting Term 1, 2026. The role is 4 days per week, with scope to consider extending to 5 days with additional duties by negotiation to suit the needs of the school (e.g., relief teaching, subject teacher).

Responsibilities

The successful applicant will deliver high-impact, proactive one-to-one guidance, particularly for Year 12 students, drawing on a sound understanding of Career Development, the New Zealand qualifications framework, as well as Tertiary and alternative pathways. This will be complemented by relevant practical experience, including student intervention and parental engagement.

Qualifications
  • Have a teaching diploma and be a registered teacher.
  • Have experience with/or knowledge of the NCEA and the qualifications framework.
  • Be legally allowed to work in New Zealand.
  • Have a collaborative and constructive work style.
Remuneration and Terms

Contract and remuneration will be in accordance with the Secondary Teachers’ Collective Agreement (CA). As assessed by the Salary Assessment Unit of the Ministry of Education. Annual remuneration is dependent on service and qualifications, starting rate of $61,329 and top rate of $103,086. Hours of work will be as set out in the STCA.
