Car Rental Manager – Queenstown / Central Otago

Location: Central Otago / Queenstown
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time (Minimum 30 hours per week, rotating roster within branch hours: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm)
Pay: $36.00 - $40.00 per hour (paid fortnightly)

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated Car Rental Manager to lead and grow our rental car operation in Queenstown / Central Otago. This is a hands-on role where you’ll drive revenue, manage fleet utilisation, ensure compliance, and deliver outstanding service to both locals and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maximise rental revenue through pricing strategies, promotions, and third party channel management.
  • Maintain service excellence, resolve escalations, and drive strong customer reviews.
  • Oversee fleet operations: servicing, repairs, condition reporting, purchasing, and disposals.
  • Recruit, roster, train, and lead branch staff.
  • Manage invoicing, reconciliations and budgeting.
  • Ensure compliance with insurance and regulatory requirements.
  • Grow margins through car sales and add-ons.
  • Operate the company shuttle van for pick-up and drop-off services to and from the airport, ensuring safe and timely transportation of customers.
About You
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business (Accounting, Management, or Supply Chain).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in car rental, tourism, or a client related or customer service industry.
  • Proven experience in customer service, complaint handling, and branch management.
  • Skilled in fleet coordination, compliance, and staff leadership.
  • Strong financial background with hands-on experience in Xero.
  • Proficient in Rental Car Manager (RCM) or similar rental management software.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Expertise in third party management platforms and dynamic pricing.
  • Ability to manage fleet stock meeting the demand of the business.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven leadership with excellent communication skills.

Local Knowledge Requirement

Licence Requirements

Full New Zealand Driver’s Licence (mandatory).

Passenger (P) Endorsement (preferred).
