These requirements are similar to those for holding a New Zealand security clearance, and involve criminal, credit and background checks. Applicants should generally have a verifiable history of residing in NZ, AU, CA, US and/or UK for the five years prior to commencing employment.

About the Role - Tēnei tūranga:

High-quality testing plays a critical role in ensuring the systems and services we deliver are robust, reliable, and fit for purpose. We're looking for an experienced testing leader to join us as our Capability Lead, Quality Assurance & Testing. As Capability Lead, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and leading MBIE's testing capability. Reporting to the Manager Quality Assurance & Testing, you'll provide strategic leadership, technical expertise, and people leadership to a team of testing professionals while partnering closely with stakeholders across the Ministry, technology teams, vendors, and suppliers. You'll be a trusted advisor who champions the value of quality assurance and testing, helping to ensure successful delivery across a diverse portfolio of technology programmes and initiatives.

Skills and Experience Required - Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana:
  • Proven experience as a Test Management Subject Matter Expert
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary testing practices, tools, and methodologies
  • Experience working across multiple SDLC methodologies and delivery frameworks, including Agile environments
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring, and performance development
  • The ability to influence and build credibility with a diverse stakeholder group
  • Strong strategic thinking and sound decision-making capability
  • Experience driving quality outcomes across complex technology programmes
  • Excellent relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • A collaborative leadership style and a passion for developing high-performing teams
  • Must have legal right to live and work in NZ
