Job summary

Metlifecare's Hillsborough Heights Village in Central Auckland is seeking a fabulous Café Assistant to provide exceptional service to residents, their friends, and staff, while delivering a great dining experience. This permanent part-time role offers 23 hours per week with shifts Mon-Fri and involves taking orders, making coffee, serving meals, handling cash, and keeping the cafe clean.

You will need strong English, a friendly can-do attitude, and a Hygiene & Food Handling certificate if you

Qualifications

• Exceptional customer service and a friendly, welcoming personality.
• Mature and reliable with strong communication skills.
• Good command of spoken and written English.
• Hygiene & Food Handling Certificate (not essential) or commercial kitchen experience.

Responsibilities

• Take food and beverage orders from residents, visitors and staff.
• Make coffee using a semi-automatic machine.
• Serve and collect meals in the café.
• Prepare and serve cabinet foods and light meals.
• Operate the cash register.
• General cleaning including café equipment and kitchen washing up.
• Assist with additional kitchen duties as required.

About the role

We are looking for a fabulous Café Assistant to work at our HIllsborough Heights Village in Central Auckland. You will be providing exceptional service to our Residents and their friends, while also helping provide a great dining experience!

This is a permanent, part time position working 23 hours per week. Shifts as follows:

• Monday -10.30 am to 3.15 pm
• Tuesday -10.30 am to 3.30 pm
• Wednesday -10.30 am to 4.30 pm
• Thursday -10.30 am to 3.15 pm
• Friday -10.30 am to 3.30 pm

Some of the great things you will be doing:

• Taking food and beverage orders from our residents, visitors and staff
• Making amazing cups of coffee (semi-automatic machine)
• Serving and collecting meals in our café
• preparing and serving cabinet food and light meals
• Operating the cash register
• General cleaning including café equipment and washing up in the kitchen
• Additional Kitchen duties as and when required

About you

You will have exceptional customer service skills, a vibrant and welcoming personality and you can effortlessly juggle several tasks at once.

Some things that will support your application include:

• A warm and friendly nature and a 'Can do attitude'
• Mature and reliable with exceptional communication skills
• A good command of spoken and written English
• A Hygiene & Food Handling Certificate (not essential) as well as and/or commercial kitchen experience
