About the company

This well-established business is a New Zealand owned SME operating in the agri-manufacturing sector supplying high-quality, engineered solutions. The operations span from international procurement of components and products to in-house manufacturing through engineering and fabrication workshops, and custom projects for clients all over New Zealand.

What you’ll do

This role will be a key part of the Design team responsible for preparing accurate technical drawings, 3D models and documentation to support small to large engineering and construction projects nationwide.

This role will combine your sound engineering knowledge and proficient drafting skills to assist in the development and delivery of high-quality design solutions. You will collaborate with engineers, production, sales and other stakeholders to ensure all designs are precise, compliant with relevant standards and delivered on time.

Here are your key responsibilities:

  • Produce detailed 2D and 3D drawings using AutoDesk software (Inventor and AutoCad)
  • Interpret engineering concepts, sketches and specifications to create accurate technical drawings
  • Develop layout, assembly, and detailed fabrication drawings along with nesting sheets (Fastnest)
  • Ensure all drawings and documentation meet NZ standards and regulatory conditions.
  • Update and maintain existing drawings as required to reflect design changes or site conditions.
  • Maintain accurate and well-organised drawing records and documentation systems.
  • Support with estimating/pricing as required
  • Liaise with other departments – sales, manufacturing, procurement to support seamless project delivery.
  • Carry out site visits when required to gather measurements and/or verify information.
About You

You are highly competent in the use of AutoDesk software – AutoCAD and Inventor (or Solidworks) and naturally pick up various software with ease. You have a degree in Engineering – mechanical or civil and/or drafting along with CAD user standards.

You are relatively early into your career and likely currently in a draftsperson role within the fabrication, manufacturing, engineering or construction sectors and looking to expand your knowledge and undertake more. You can read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and design briefs and have a solid understanding of engineering principles. You have familiarity with the NZ building code, NZS standards and/or BIM processes.

You are a confident communicator who enjoys conversing with a wide range of people and have excellent attention to detail and strong visualisation skills.

You enjoy being part of a team but equally work well independently. You are open minded and willing to learn from experienced individuals around you. You can demonstrate working well under pressure and are deadline driven in your work and are accurate in your completion. You have a full, clean NZ driver’s license.
