Job summary

Farmers Trading Company Ltd in New Zealand is seeking a Buyer - Lingerie to lead a commercially driven lingerie range across the business. You'll use market insights, product knowledge and supplier relationships to build ranges that balance style, quality and value.

Reporting to Merchandise Manager, you will manage lifecycle from range planning to pricing, promotions and markdowns, and work with local and international suppliers to drive growth in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Proven buying experience within lingerie or a closely related fashion category.
• Strong commercial acumen including sales, margins, stock management and budgets.
• Excellent negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data for commercial decisions.
• Good understanding of fashion trends, product development and customer preferences.
• Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across the business.
• Strong organisation, planning and communication skills with competing priorities.

About the role

Reporting to the relevant Merchandise Manager, you will take ownership of developing and managing a compelling lingerie range that meets our customers' needs while delivering strong commercial results.

You'll combine your product knowledge, market awareness and analytical skills to identify opportunities, build successful supplier relationships and ensure our ranges remain relevant, competitive and commercially sound.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Developing and executing a lingerie buying strategy aligned with customer needs and business objectives.
• Building commercially successful product ranges across lingerie and associated categories.
• Analysing sales performance, margins, stock levels and market trends to identify opportunities for growth.
• Managing the product lifecycle, from range planning and selection through to pricing, promotions and markdowns.
• Building strong relationships with local and international suppliers to negotiate pricing, terms and product opportunities.
• Working closely with Planning, Marketing and other Merchandise teams to maximise sales and profitability.
• Monitoring competitor activity, fashion trends and customer insights to keep our offering fresh and relevant.
• Managing budgets, sales targets and key commercial performance indicators.

About you

You're a commercially driven Buyer who understands the balance between product, customer and profitability. You enjoy working in a fast-paced retail environment, making informed decisions and turning market insights into successful ranges.

Ideally, you will bring:

• Proven buying experience within lingerie, or a closely related fashion category.
• Strong commercial acumen, including an understanding of sales, margins, stock management and budgets.
• Excellent negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to make sound commercial decisions.
• A good understanding of fashion trends, product development and customer preferences.
• The ability to build effective relationships and influence stakeholders across the business.
• Strong organisation, planning and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
