Job description

My Timaru client is seeking an experienced and strategic Director or Shareholder to join their dynamic team. As a fellow Director, you will play a crucial role in shaping and executing the financial strategy of the firm, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving excellence in financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Strategy and Planning:
    • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company's objectives.
    • Provide insightful financial recommendations to support decision-making at the executive level.
    • Conduct regular financial analysis to identify areas for improvement and growth.
  2. Financial Reporting and Compliance:
    • Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial reports.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and tax laws.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  3. Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team.
    • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
    • Drive collaboration and effective communication within the finance department and across the organization.
  4. Risk Management:
    • Identify and mitigate financial risks to safeguard the company's financial health.
    • Implement robust internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting
  • Professional accounting qualifications (CA or CPA)

  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
