Job description

We are looking for a caring, capable leader to shape the boarding experience for our students at Nga Tawa.

At Nga Tawa, a special character girls’ school in Marton, we believe that boarding is about more than just a place to sleep. It’s about connection, confidence, and community.

This is a leadership role where you'll work closely with our Director of Wellbeing, be part of a dedicated boarding team, and make a lasting impact on young women during some of the most formative years of their lives.

It’s a chance to be part of a team that wraps around our students, supporting them to grow into strong, resilient young women. This role is parent-facing, so it is important to be able to maintain good relationships with our Nga Tawa community.

Boarding can be a rewarding and meaningful career pathway, and we are committed to helping you grow in the role. We will support you to gain professional qualifications through the New Zealand Boarding Schools’ Association, and provide opportunities to grow your skills, confidence, and leadership experience. There is opportunity for this role to grow into a more senior position.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Excellent communication skills and a warm, approachable manner
  • A flexible attitude and an ability to think on their feet
  • An understanding of cultural diversity
  • A clean driver’s licence
  • A current first aid certificate
  • Comfortable in using basic technology

A background in education, youth work, healthcare, or similar people-focused roles is a bonus, but we’re really looking for someone who wants to make a difference and foster a warm, supportive environment where our girls can grow and flourish.

Days and hours are negotiable. Term-time evenings and weekends will be required. Includes 10 weeks of leave annually. This can be either a salaried position or paid per hour.
