New Zealand Blood and Organ Service in Auckland (Epsom) is seeking a Registered Medical Laboratory Scientist with blood banking experience for a permanent full-time role in the National Reference Laboratory. The position involves pre-transfusion testing and complex antibody investigations in a busy team.

The role requires working in a 24/7 on-call service on a rota with the Reference team, ensuring compliance with quality standards and relevant licensing.

Formación

• Registered Medical Laboratory Scientist with blood banking experience is required.
• Ability to work independently and in a small team within a busy reference laboratory.
• Willingness to participate in a 24/7 on-call service distributed among the Reference team.

Responsabilidades

• Investigate antibody problems and provision of cross-matched blood.
• Resolve ABO and Rh(D) typing problems.
• Monitor levels (by titration) of antibodies found during routine screening.
• Ensure all activities comply with defined quality standards, accreditation licensing and legislative requirements.
• Solve complex red cell antigen/antibody problems using red cell genotyping and rare typing sera/cells.
